Brain research has undoubtedly become one of the most exciting and challenging research fields over the past three decades. The rehabilitation of patients with brain disorders has attracted attention worldwide. However, despite the growing interest in brain research, bottlenecks remain in these studies. Scientists from various fields must collaborate to further understand, modulate, and rehabilitate the brain.
It is a great pleasure to present the international journal Brain Network and Modulation (BNM, www.bnmjournal.com) to physicians, rehabilitation doctors and therapists, medical researchers, biomedical engineers, and others interested in this growing field of medicine. BNM is an academic platform in the field of rehabilitation surrounding brain networks and neuromodulation research, supported by the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and published in Wolters Kluwer Medknow. BNM is currently launching its first issue, and your consideration and support is appreciated.
BNM is an international open-access, peer-reviewed journal of brain rehabilitation. The journal focuses on, but is not limited to, the publication of high-quality, cutting-edge basic, clinical, and engineering research articles on normal brain function, brain functional network reconstruction in the process of neural repair and remodeling, neurofunctional examination and evaluation (e.g., functional magnetic resonance imaging, near-infrared spectroscopy, event-related potential, magnetoencephalography), and modulation. The journal covers basic research as well as translational and clinical practice articles on stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative disease, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disease, peripheral nerve injury, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other neuropsychiatric and mental disorders. The journal also reports on the research and development of innovative brain examination approaches, neural repair and modulation technologies, neural rehabilitation engineering equipment, intelligent rehabilitation, and artificial intelligence technologies in rehabilitation. The journal will provide a scientific publishing platform for in-depth research on brain network theory and technology for global scientists engaged in the field of rehabilitation and related disciplines, such as brain networks, neural rehabilitation, neuromodulation, rehabilitation engineering, rehabilitation artificial intelligence, and other relevant interdisciplinary subjects.
In recent years, despite the widespread application of neuromodulation and intelligent rehabilitation technologies, the mechanisms and protocols of these technologies require more in-depth research in order to be optimized for clinical application. The need for advanced research involving these topics is the primary purpose and scope of BNM.
Scope of the Journal:
- Innovative theories on neural networks and neuromodulation
- Unique research on neural networks and neuromodulation in neural injury, neurodegenerative diseases, neurodevelopmental disorders, and mental diseases
- Innovative techniques of brain imaging (functional magnetic resonance imaging, near-infrared spectroscopy, positron emission tomography, and magnetoencephalography) and evoked potentials (event-related potential and transcranial magnetic stimulation-induced motor evoked potential) related to brain rehabilitation
- Neural repair and neural circuit modulation in acute brain injury and peripheral neural trauma
- Molecular and cellular mechanisms of neural regeneration and circuit remodeling during neural rehabilitation
- Regenerative rehabilitation research and novel stem cell transplantation technologies in neural injury
- Development of animal models for structural connections and functional regulation of neural networks and modulations
- Translational and clinical research regarding rehabilitation technology, based on neural circuit and network reconstruction
- Neuromodulation technology with implantable physical factors or chips and brain-computer interface technology
- Intelligent rehabilitation aids and artificial intelligence for neural rehabilitation
BNM will be published in print and online with a quarterly publication cycle of four issues per year. Original studies, reviews, and clinical research reports are welcome.
